Please welcome Ann Braue and Scream to the team!
Ann Braue and Scream have joined the USA/IFCS World Agility Championships team and will run in the 26" class at the event this May. Their call into action came last week as Dudley Fontaine reported that she will not be able to compete with Mav in this year's Championships due to injury. Ann was one of four alternates waiting in the wings if needed. "Ann and Scream are seasoned and successful competitors both in the US and abroad. Their combined experience will be an asset to the team," says Team USA Coach Rachel Sanders. Braue is happy to be joining the team. She says, "It is a great honor and I am thrilled to once again represent our country. This is my first time on the IFCS team but the eighth time I've been selected to compete at an International event. In 2006, I tore my ACL three weeks before [another international event] and I needed alternates to step in for me. Now it is my turn to step in for a teammate."
Those who placed fourth (and beyond) in tryouts for the IFCS team are often forgotten. In the past these competitors were unable to be called upon after close of entries, but a new rule for IFCS in 2012 permits each team to name alternates which can replace a team member up until the evening before the start of competition. Each of the competitors next in line in last year's tryouts are alternates for this year's team:
Ivette White and Zip
Elizableth Evans and Hemi
Elicia Calhoun and Bree Sea
Anne Braue and Scream
Dudley Fontaine retains a position on the team because she qualified with her dog Sweet in the 22"/55cm height division, as previously announced.
