What to Do in Denver

Now that entries to the 2012 Cynosport World Games are closed, it's time to plan your trip! Check out these recommendations by Annie DeChance.

If you're looking for a few non-dog related activities while you or your family members are visiting Denver for this year's Cynosport World Games, check these out:

US Mint Tour - Learn how to make money for free!

Free tours daily, on the hour from 8-11 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. Reservations are recommended and can be made online -  320 W. Colfax Ave., Denver, Colorado 80204, 303-405-4761

Coors Brewery Tour - Mmmmm, Beer!

Free 30-minute tours approximately a half hour's drive from the show site. Tours begin in the southeast corner of the visitor parking lot, 13th & Ford Street, Golden, Colorado 80401. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday noon - 4 p.m. Details at or toll free at 866-812-2337.

Dinosaur Ridge - Not quite Jurassic Park!

This outdoor museum and visitors center showcases important dinosaur discoveries made in the late 1800s. Take a self-guided tour for free, a guided tour for $3, or a 40-minute bus tour for $4 per person. Dinosaur Ridge is about 30 miles from the show site. 16831 W. Colorado Sports Hall of Fame and Museum - for the sports lover in all of us!

Get a behind-the-scenes, 75-minute tour of Mile High Stadium near downtown. Reservations are strongly encouraged!  Tours begin every hour Thursdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tickets are $10.  1701 Bryant Street, Suite 500, Denver, Colorado 80204, 702-258-3888 or 

Red Rocks Hall of Fame - Rock and roll lives forever!

Learn about the geology in the most beautiful place to see a concert and visit the performer's hall of fame.  Daily tours at 10 a.m. through October 1st, $6 for adults. 18300 W. Alameda Pkwy, Morrison, Colorado, 702-865-2494 or
