The Southwestern Regional in Pictures

Canine reporter Rickie Roo competed at the recent Southwestern Regional Championships and is sharing lots of fun photos from the event.

We had a great time at the USDAA Southwestern Regional Championships in Glendale, Arizona, and ran lots of classes, both tournament and titling. My family won stuff in the raffle and took home lots of ribbons. There were competitors from all over! It was so fun to see them all.

Our setup before the wind.

I had fun meeting my teammate Quila who is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I didn't see any ducks there for her to retrieve but I saw her rock it on the agility course. She lives with Karen Gloor in Arizona.Boo, whom his mommy Jessica Brown from Phoenix, Arizona calls "Boo Boo Bad Haircut," didn't mind the wind at all. This was Boo's first ever Regional!

My sister LCpie (on the left) and I both made the Performance Speed Jumping Finals! I beat her though, I got 3rd and she got 4th.

Vivian! and her handler Kathleen Desvigne came to the regional from New York! That's a long way to come. She was our next door crating neighbor. They made the Steeplechase finals and the Grand Prix Finals too!Stinger was at the event with his handler Desiree Snelleman all the way from Bonney Lake, Washington. Stinger made the finals in both Grand Prix and Steeplechase.

Rita the Australian Cattle Dog was at the event from Montrose, Colorado. She made it into the Grand Prix finals with her handler Debie Jacques.Riot came to the event from Utah and won the 16" Steeplechase finals with his handler Gosia Skowron.

Promise came with her handler Dawn Weaver from Portland Dorset in the United Kingdom! She made both the Grand Prix and the Steeplechase Finals.Bria is the very first purple Border Collie I ever met. She came from Eden Prarie, Minnesota, and earned her Performance Dog Championship and made the Performance Speed Jumping and Performance Grand Prix finals with handler Michelle Persian.

Swagger came from Canada with Susan Garrett to compete. This is Swaggers first regional and guess what? They won Steeplechase finals in the 22" class!

Porter attended his first regional and with his handler Mary Obidinski from Vista, California, ran in both the Grand Prix and Steeplechase finals. He earned a 3rd in Grand Prix. I was cheering him on because he's my nephew!

Rudy a Maltese from Chandler, Arizona, had a awesome time. He made the Performance Grand Prix Finals with his dad Russ Osiol.Making friends with the judges! Here I am with Terry Smorch after I ran his Performance Speed Jumping round 1 course.

I was working all the time. I even helped USDAA Vice President Andy Hartman videotape some runs. Letti came to the event from Torrance, California with her handler Shelley Permann. Letti made her 12th birthday count by competing in both the Performance Speed Jumping and Performance Grand Prix Finals where she got 2nd in both. What  a birthday to remember!

The wind came up overnight and ate our canopies and threw other peoples canopies into the rings!

What a mess! Good thing we had so much fun!
