IFCS CCOE Team Member of the Day: Teri Thompson

Meet some members of the US 2013 IFCS Continental Championships of Europe team.

The 2013 IFCS Continental Championships of Europe, which will be held near Gerona, Spain, are coming soon. The event begins on April 4th! To help us all get ready for this exciting inaugural event, we are featuring each of our team members here on USDAA.com. The team member of the day is Teri Thompson!

Teri lives in Simi Valley, California and she will be running her three-year-old Border Collie, Motion in the Maxi dog division. Teri's been doing agility for six years, and she's one of those few fortunate people in that her "real life" job has to do with agility: she's an agility instructor at Happy Dog Agility in Moorpark, California. We asked Teri a few questions about her experiences in agility and her plans for the upcoming event.

What are you doing to prepare for the CCOE event?

Reading books to help with the mental game, working on agility drills, and keeping Motion and myself fit by hiking and working on the fit ball.

How did you feel when you found out that you made the team?

Shocked. I had to read the email from Andy a couple of times before it sunk in that we were selected to represent USA.

What strengths do you think you and your dogs bring to the team (particularly on international courses)?

Both Motion and I strive to do our best each time we walk in the ring.

Are you bringing anyone with you to cheer on Team USA?

My husband Bob is traveling with us and will be at the event to cheer for all of us.

Have you been out of the country to compete or for other reasons in the past?

I have never competed outside of US. My husband and I have vacationed in Mexico, Aruba, and I've had a quick one day trip to Canada. Our favorite type of vacations are camping.

Are you planning to do any sightseeing or other activities while you are in Europe for the event?

My husband and I are staying a few extra days to tour Spain. We are planning on visiting Barcelona and any other areas we can fit in while in Spain.

Any other comments?

We are excited to be part of a team with so many great handlers and their dogs.
