Meet another member of the US 2013 IFCS Continental Championships of Europe team!
The 2013 IFCS Continental Championships of Europe, which will be held near Gerona, Spain, are coming soon. The event begins on April 4th! To help us all get ready for this exciting inaugural event, we are featuring each of our team members here on USDAA.com. The team member of the day is Tracy Hirsch!
What strengths do you think you and your dogs bring to the team (particularly on international courses)?
Tracy poses with her dog Felon. Photo courtesy of Keith Hirsch.
Tracy lives in Wake Forest, North Carolina and will be running her six-year-old Border Collie, Silver, at the event in the Midi division. She considers her current occupation to be playing with her dogs (lucky lady, and lucky dogs)! Tracy has been competing in agility for about 10 years. We asked Tracy a few questions about her experiences in agility and her plans for the upcoming event.
What (if anything) are you doing to prepare for the CCOE event?
I recently had knee surgery so I have been in [physical therapy] and working out as much as I can. Silver and I spend our time hiking and practicing international courses to prepare.
How did you feel when you found out that you made the team?
It really is an awesome feeling to be part of such an amazing team. Plus, to share this with so many of your friends that are also on the team is such a great honor. I am very proud of my little blue-eyed girl!
Silver is a great little technical dog. She is very efficient and a great little jumper.
Are you bringing anyone with you to cheer on Team USA?
Yes, I am super excited to share this experience with my mom. She has been super supportive and Silver loves her!
Have you ever competed outside the US before?
Never competed outside the US before. I have been outside the US for other events, just not dog related. This is our first trip to Spain!
Are you planning to do any sightseeing or other activities while you are in Europe for the event?
Yes, we are staying a few days after the event to visit Barcelona with several other team members.
Do you have any other comments?
I am extremely excited and honored to be part of such an elite group. Plus to share this with my friends and family.... I can not be more thankful for all their support. I want to take a moment to thank my husband Keith, he has always supported our agility goals and my craziness. Plus, Silver is kinda... his dog!
