We conclude our "CCOE Team Member of the Day" series on the first full day of competition in Girona, Spain.
The 2013 IFCS Continental Championships of Europe, which are being held near Girona, Spain, are coming here. The event began on April 4th! To help us all get ready for this exciting inaugural event, we have been featuring each of our team members here on USDAA.com. The last "team member of the day" is Jen Pinder!
Jen and her Shetland Sheepdog, Britain, are part of Team USA's Mini division team at the CCOE. The pair has already racked up a first place in yesterday's Grand Prix of Dog Agility! Jen and Britain live in Lapeer, Michigan. Jen has been doing agility for 18 years and makes her living as an agility instructor. We asked Jen a few questions about her experiences in agility and her plans for the event.
What (if anything) have you been doing to prepare for the CCOE event?
Working on skills on international challenges.
How did you feel when you found out that you made the team?
I was very excited.
What strengths do you think you and your dog bring to the team (particularly on international courses)?
She is well trained and wants to be right. In addition, she has speed and power. I think that is a very good combination of traits. On international courses, we work well together.
Did you bring anyone with you to cheer on Team USA?
Nope just Britain and myself.
Are you planning to do any sightseeing or other activities while you are in Europe for the event?
I am planning on touring Barcelona after the event with Terri Herman and a couple of others. I am very much looking forward to that!
