Basic Rules

Time allotted is:

Maxi & Midi 40 seconds plus 12 seconds for the Joker

Mini & Toy 45 seconds plus 14 seconds for the Joker

Toy 50 seconds plus 15 seconds for the Joker

Opening sequence points will be:

Weave Poles, 5 points; Dogwalk/A-frame/See-Saw, 3 points; Tires/Tunnels/Long jump, 2 points; Hurdles, 1 point

Points can only be earned a maximum of two times for each obstacle.

If a dog is in the process of completing an obstacle when the horn sounds to indicate the conclusion of the opening sequence, points will only be earned if the dog has completed the aim of the obstacle and cannot be faulted. Points will not be awarded for back-to-back successful 3 or 5 points obstacles (contacts and/or weave poles). Dogs will not earn points for completing a 3 or 5 point obstacle if a 3 or 5 point obstacle was successfully completed immediately beforehand. If an attempt is unsuccessful then any obstacle may be reattempted.

Closing Sequence - Joker

Successful completion of obstacles 1 to 4 within the closing sequence after the opening sequence horn will result in double the points received in the opening sequence. No other points will be received during the closing sequence/Joker for obstacles negotiated. Refusals or faults will preclude the dog from earning the Joker.

Joker cannot be earned if:

  • During the opening sequence, a dog performs any two or more Joker obstacles one after the other (forward, reverse or same obstacle)
  • The handler loiters close to the start of the Joker
  • The handler steps on or over the containment line while attempting the Joker
  • The dog performs obstacles without accumulating points
  • There is any fault (including Refusals) or more than one attempt during the Joker
