The August 2016 President's Message from USDAA's Ken Tatsch.
By Kenneth Tatsch, President
With less than three months remaining until Cynosport®, were in the midst of planning another great event in Scottsdale. The Organizing Committee is hard at work balancing the competition schedule to make use of the additional space we will have available this year, as well as finalizing other logistical details. Information for this year's event can be found on the Cynosport web site at www.cynosport.com. Please be sure to sign up for event update notifications; sign-up must be done each year. The Test Schedule and entry forms are due out the middle of this month. We look forward to making it the best experience possible for everyone!
We will once again offer special schooling rings at Cynosport as a fundraiser in support of Team USA travel to Spain next April for the 2017 IFCS World Agility Championships. Team fundraising efforts are coordinated through the United States Association of Cynological Sports, a 501(c)3 charity, which supports participation in international competition. If you dont have time to participate in the schooling rings, your tax deductible, charitable donation would nonetheless be greatly appreciated. You can contribute at the show, or simply visit the USACS web site atwww.donate2dogsports.org to make your donation online. Last year USACS contributed some $17,000 towards the team travel, and we would like to be able to do more. Team promotional apparel is also available for purchase through the website and at Cynosport.
On a different note, each year we recognize Agility Top Ten and Performance Top Ten competitors based upon their performance results throughout the year. While these lists are global in scope, each competitor can also check rankings on a regional and national basis as well as by breed and by breed within a region. We frequently find that many competitors are unaware of this feature of the competitor services section of our web site. If you havent checked it out, log on to usdaa.com competitor services and find the link for regional ranking and other features available in the left navigation menu. Not only can you check current ranking by region or breed (or both), you can also compare this year to last year, and check your dogs standing over the course of their agility career. Title Qualifications Earned by region and breed may also be reviewed. These feature of the website are a great way to see how you stack up against others and can even be used to set personal goals.
