Results summary of the second of six regional championships held in Dallas, Texas.
Las Colinas Equestrian Center was the site of the second of six Grand Prix Regional events being held in the United States. The Dallas Agility Working Group played host to the competition with judge Candy Gaiser presiding over Round 2. The 12" height class consisted of just one dog, JRT Maddy run by Linda Knowles. This team maneuvered through the 171 yd course fault free in 47.65 seconds. Linda and Maddy were in the envious position of being the only dog running in this height. The SCT was 58 seconds. Joel Lavalley and Sheltie, Marvel, turned in the only fault-free round in the 16" height class with sixteen dogs running. They turned in a time of 35.91 seconds on the 171 yard course. The SCT for 16" was 53 seconds. Placing second was Christine Frank with miniature Schnauzer Kimie (40.18 seconds) while third place went to Sharon Rafferty with Affenpinscher Taz (44.90 seconds) both of whom incurred five faults. Course distance for the open dogs was 183 yds with an SCT of 51 seconds. Twenty five dogs made it to Round 2, but it was Rhonda Carter and BC Blast who turned in the winning run with no faults and a time of 32.68 seconds. Second place was earned by Linda Mecklenburg and BC Awesome with a time of 34.30 seconds, while third place went to Diane Wilkins and BC Kona who also ran clear in 34.51 seconds. Nine dogs advanced to Round 2 in the 26" height class. Linda Kipp and BC Rocky took the blue ribbon with a clear run and a time of 33.86 seconds. Second place went to Linda Mecklenburg and BC Stellar with a time of 34.74 seconds and third place went to Jackie Bludworth with Golden Retriever Twist who ran the 183 yard course in 39.79 seconds without fault.
For the Performance Grand Prix, three seconds was added to the SCTs listed above. No 8" dogs advanced to Round 2, but seven dogs did move on in the 12" height class. Earning a place in the final round in Scottsdale was Jamie Theobald and Cocker Spaniel Callie who turned in a faultless round of 42.48 seconds. Second place was earned by Brandi Weaver and Sheltie Chance who ran the course is 44.15 seconds while Sheltie Lily and Elizabeth Blanchard came in third with a time of 48.33 seconds and zero faults. With seven dogs advancing in the 16" height class Gerry Brown and BC Larrie turned in the blue ribbon run in 33.94 seconds. Sarah Dow and BC Sweep took second with a time of 34.25 seconds with third place being awarded to Stacie Green and Aussie Cosmo who ran the course in 38.44 seconds. The sole competitor advancing in the 22" height class was Rosanne Lindholm and GSD Trina who took first with a clean run and a time of 43.66 seconds.
Those dogs taking first place at this regional are eligible to enter the Final Round at the 2nd Annual CynosportSM World Games being held in Scottsdale, Arizona November 11 -14.
Placing first in the team tournament was Pinch Hitters comprised of Jody Faulker & Gracie, Nadine Schramm & Didi and Stacie Greene & Cosmo. Second place went to Shelties with Zest made up of husband/wife Joel and Jean Lavalley with Marvel and Taz and Jo Unbehaun with Lily. Coming in third was Stellar can Blast through Metal with Linda Mecklenburg & Stellar, Rhonda Carter & Blast and Gerry Brown & Sterling. Twenty-four teams qualified.
