Southeast Regional Championship Results

Results from the first of the 2004 tournament season regional championship events.


Canine Capers served as the host of the first Grand Prix Regional event to take place in 2004. With 154 dogs in the Grand Prix and 24 dogs in the Performance Grand Prix, the competition was stiff with Judge Darlene Woz in the pilot seat. Coming out on top in the 12" height class were Linda Knowles and her JRT, Megan, who ran the 178 yd course fault free in 38.03 seconds! SCT was 59 seconds. The 16" class went to Karen Holik and Sheltie, Sizzle, who also ran the course fault free in 33.88 seconds!. SCT was 53 seconds. The open dogs turned on the jets on the 185 yd course with a SCT of 50 seconds with Gerry Brown and BC Sterling turning in a fault free time of 32.23 seconds for the 22" class and Marcus Topps with BC Juice taking first place in the 26" class with a clear round and a time of 32.10 seconds. Linda Knowles with her JRT Maddy and Marcus Topps with Juice represented the United States at the IFCS World Agility Championships in Spain just a month ago.

Linda Knowles had quite a weekend taking first place in the Performance Grand Prix 12" class. Linda guided her JRT MacDuff through a clear round in 43.29 seconds. Taking first place in the 16" height class was Jennifer Crank and her Sheltie, Guess who turned in a clean run in 36.58 seconds. In the 22" height class, Diane Castle and GSD Tenor took first with five faults and a time of 44.35 seconds. In the 8" class, Tim Verrelli and Scottie Gennie took first place with a clear round and 48.71 seconds. Dogs qualifying for the semifinals will be listed soon.

Those dogs taking first place at this regional are eligible to enter the Final Round at the 2nd Annual CynosportSM World Games being held in Scottsdale, Arizona November 11 -14.

The top three teams overall in the team qualifier are:
1st Place: Born to Run - Pam Reid & Eejit, Nadine Schramm & DiDi, Kimberly Chase & Wryly
2nd Place: Herding the Pale Rider - Jean Lavalley & Taz, Linda Mecklenburg & Stellar, Kelly Joyce Preacher
3rd Place: Old School - Nicole Forrest & Cassidy, Amanda Jones & Crash, Wendy Pape & Riot
