NW Grand Prix Regional Results

Four down and two to go! Competitors from across the US and Canada gathered to enjoy the fun in Lacey, Washington as Rainier Agility Team hosted the event.

In the 12" height class, two dogs ran head to head for the coveted finalist placement. Kimberly Sisak and her Papillon, Phoebe prevailed with a time of 37.87 seconds and a clear round. Nancy Louise Jones and her Jack Russell, Pip, posted a time of 39.34 seconds also with no faults. The 179 yard course had a SCT of 60 seconds, so these dogs really tore it up! This is the second dog Kimberly has handled into a finalist position, with her other Papillon Jasper winning the 12" class in the Southwest Regional the first of July. There were more contenders in the 16" class with eleven dogs hoping for first place or a semifinalist run. Barb Davis had quite a weekend, winning first place in this class with Shimmer and earning a place in the semifinals with her two shelties, Pistol and PJ. Shimmer ran the 179-yard course in 35.25 seconds with no faults (SCT = 56 seconds). Barb placed second with Pistol with a time of 36.44 seconds while third place went to Carson Kong and sheltie Kelsey who ran the course in 38.31 seconds.

The open dogs posted times comparable to the mini dogs when it was their turn to run. The course measured out to 185 yards for an SCT of 50 seconds for this class. Earning their place in the 22" finals class in November is Mary Gutknecht and Border Collie, Jet with a clear round in 34.12 seconds - the only zero-fault round in this height class and the fastest time posted overall on Tim Verrelli's course. Second with 5 faults is Sara Dow and her BC Sweep with a time of 35.30 seconds while third place went to Dan Roy and his Aussie, Nala with a time of 36.89 seconds. In the 26" class, Brittney Holtorf and Kate, a Border Collie, took home the blue ribbon with a faultless run in 36.66 seconds. While running clear rounds, Lisa Bowers and Diva and Carol Hibbard with Duke couldn't catch them, turning in times of 39.16 and 41.45 seconds, respectively. Click here for complete details.
