Local events to fill the calendar for Spring Festival dates in 2006
With the short time fuse for locating a suitable facility for the Spring Festival, the decision has been made to forego the event for 2006. After a good deal of research and hard work by the office and several USDAA affiliates, a site has not been located where the event can be held in the spirit in which it is meant to be enjoyed. In doing so, dates have been coordinated with two clubs to offer local events in the midwest and northeastern U.S. April 21-23. These events - one in Indiana and one in New York - will appear on the event calendar early next week. This year's extravaganza was to serve as a fund-raiser for the IFCS World Team going to Holland in May.
Scot Bartley and Central Indiana Agility will host their spring event at the Boone County Fairgrounds the weekend of April 21-23, 2006, so look for details about this event soon. Plans for an event in the Northeast are also be finalized. Other groups who wish to host an event on the Spring Festival weekend this year should contact the office; applications will be accepted as timely filed for this weekend if received by March 6th.
The Spring Festival will certainly be missed not only for the competition and atmosphere, but as a fund-raising opportunity for the IFCS Championships. Fund-raising opportunities on the local level might consist of raffles, fun matches and donations by competitors or clubs to help the team get to Holland. Contributions can be made online at the USDAA Store or by contacting the office. You can watch the fund grow, as a news page will be maintained, showing the total contributions and identification of sponsors. USDAA is providing normal sponsorship benefits as explained in the online store IFCS page.
Watch for an announcement in coming months about the return of the Spring Festival of Dog AgilitySM for 2007.
