The Bugs of Summer - Tips from the ASPCA - Part 1

Summer is a fun time to be out and about, but it also means more exposure to bugs, some of which pose dangers for our dogs.

The ASPCA Poison Control Center provides helpful information on the types of insects that can harm our pets, such as stings from bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets and fire ants. The venom in these insects can lead to several types of reactions, some of which can be potentially fatal. A sting can lead to local reactions, systemic poisonings and/or an allergic reaction. Read more to learn about recognizing the signs and tips for immediate care.

The ASPCA Poison Control Center (APCC) provides toxicology educational programs, consulting services, review of case data as an alternative to traditional animal research, and a 24-hour veterinary diagnostic and treatment hotline which can be reached at 1-888-426-4435.
