First USDAA Trial for RACE (Run Agility Competition Events)

RACE held their first trial in Atascadero, CA on November 27 to 29, 2015.

by Rachel Sanders

RACE's first USDAA trial is over. Our thanks to all who attended and worked so hard to help make this trial run so smoothly.

We dedicated the show to our friend and fellow agility competitor Sandy Ogg, who passed away September 20, 2012. Sandy loved to introduce and encourage new people to try agility. Her family attended and competed at the show. The Dog Agility Masters and Performance Versatility Pairs trophies were provided by Specialty Pet Supply in Atascadero, California.

Judge Dave Grubel, winners of DAM and PVP with Sandy Oggs family.

We had 25 Starters and PI competitors entered at our trial. For some, it was their first trial and for others it was their first USDAA trial. Because it was a one ring/one judge trial it was great that we were all able to watch and support them as they stepped to the start line and crossed the finish jump.

Here are some of the Starters/P1 competitors, who were first timers to USDAA. Congratulations to you all.

Rachel and her dogs have been USDAA Cynosport finalists, in either Grand Prix, Steeplechase or DAM, first in 1996 and then every year since 1999. Podium placements include 1st place 12 inch Steeplechase and 1st place Grand Prix in 1999, 2002 and 2003. She was a member of the 2008 IFCS World Team with her Border Collie Fable and has been the USDAA IFCS World Team coach since 2012.

In addition to competing with her own dogs, she is the author of several DVDs, teaches agility to all levels of handlers and dogs and is a popular camp and seminar presenter. She can be reached through her website
