Arthur (Artie) Weiss passed away Feb. 1st.
It is with much sadness that we report the loss of a great man and legend in the agility community, Arthur (Artie) Weiss.
Artie was truly a Pioneer in Dog Agility. He founded the Long Island Agility club in the late 1980's and is the reason agility is so strong in the Mid-Atlantic Region today. He built his own equipment and connected with USDAA Founder and President Ken Tatsch who supplied Artie with videos and suggestions on how to build participation in the sport. Their first trial was in 1990 and they held their first Regional the following year.
For the next 15 years, Artie dedicated his time to promoting dog agility throughout the eastern part of the U.S. Artie ran both Siberians and Papillions during this time and was inducted into the USDAA Hall of Fame in 2005.
Services were held yesterday, but you can leave your condolence message
for others to see. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Artie's family and friends. He will be truly missed.
