A profile of IFCS 2016 Team Member Kate Moureaux and her dog Smart.
We are featuring regular profiles of all of the IFCS 2016 Team Members. Today we feature Kate Moureaux and her dog Smart.
Kate Moureaux and Smart (Border Collie) live in Simi Valley,
California. Kate is the owner of DrivenDogs Agility (www.drivendogs.com), and a full time
agility instructor. She began competing in agility in 1992, at the age of six-years-old,
and has been teaching since 1999.
Smart's mother (Driven) and grandmother (Quick) helped to give
Kate plenty of International experience, having competing at three IFCS World
Championships (2006, 2008, 2010). Since 2006, Kate has also won seven National
Championships, Smart earning two herself. Smart is no stranger to International
competitions, having competed in Europe in 2013 at the CCOE, and at the IFCS
World Championships in 2014. As Smart's breeder, Kate is especially proud of
Besides agility, Kate and Smart have enjoyed competing in herding,
obedience, rally, and conformation. Outside of dog sports, Smart is an expert
cuddler, and loves her rubber chicken, Elvis.

How did you first get involved with
Starting in 1992 (I was six-years-old)

participate in any other dog sports or training with your dogs?

Tell us more about the dog(s) you
will be competing with as an IFCS Team Member?
Smart is the 2015 USDAA Grand Prix and Steeplechase 18"
Champion. She previously competed on the 2014 IFCS World Team. Smart is an
awesome agility partner, as well as all around dog. She loves to compete, but
is also happy to lay in bed and relax.
Does your dog have any quirks or
unique habits that you would love to share?

I currently have
four other dogs:
- Driven (13) Smart's mom, 2008/2010
IFCS World Team Member
- Jammer (13) Driven's brother
- Power (nine) Half sibling to
- Great (22 months) Power's daughter
Planning to breed Smart later in 2016. Very excited to hopefully
have a Smart baby!
How does it feel to be on the IFCS
Team this year?
Super excited to be on the IFCS
World Team. I feel very lucky to have had three generations of dogs on this
team, and look forward to sharing another travel experience with Smart.
