All Colorado Agility Team (ACAT) celebrates their 25th Anniversary this year.
This past month ACAT celebrated the 25th Anniversary of
their first event that was held in May 1992.
The celebration included reduced entry fees to thank all our exhibitors
that have supported us over the years, a couple of retro games (strategic pairs
and power and speed) and a catered BBQ on Saturday evening. The weather was glorious and a good time was
had by all at the Minnequa Lake Park Athletic Fields in Pueblo, CO. Patty Drom
and Jan Skurzynski judged the event. Patty judged that first trial in 1992.
Kent Mahan attended his first
USDAA trial in 1990. The next year after attending USDAA Nationals at the
Astrohall in Houston, he put together the paperwork to establish the ACAT as
the first Colorado USDAA club. The first trial was held at the Livestock
Pavilion at the Colorado State Fair Grounds in May 1992 with The aforementioned
Patty Drom judging. There were 35 dogs running representing 13 States.
Exhibitors included Darlene Woz, Karen Gloor, Harry and Pat Guticz, Bud Houston
and Scot Bartley among others. The club has held the spring trial on the third
weekend in May ever since for many years at the soccer field at Colorado State
University, Pueblo and more recently at Minnequa Lake Park in Pueblo. A second
fall trial was added in the mid-90's and has been held at Aga Park in Fountain
for many years and occasionally at other sites.
