Toy Team member Dana Pike will be tackling the WAC this year with Tangle, a two-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Papillon mix. Dana, who lives in Wilmington, Illinois, is a dog training professional with her own business, K9s in Motion, Inc., which serves the Chicagoland area.
Dana attended the 2004 USDAA IFCS World Agility Championships with her Parson Russell Terrier, Maybie. They won a gold medal in the Biathalon, another gold medal in Individual Standard, and silver and bronze medals in both Snooker and Gamblers. Maybie also won Power and Speed and the Steeplechase finals. Tangle has some big pawprints to fill!
Dana has also had several other very successful dogs in USDAA competition and in other venues, including Border Collies, a Jack Russell Terrier, and a Bernese Mountain Dog.
BF: What are you doing now to get ready for the WAC?
DP: We are working on keeping fit and training a lot of foundation skills.
BF: What do you think is your greatest strength in this event?
DP: I think our biggest strength at worlds will be our ability to focus and run well under pressure.
BF: Tell us something about you that we don't know.
DP: Hmm... Something about me that you don't know... Well, I'm planning to relocate to Iowa soon!
