Regional - Special Measuring

Any dog entered in tournaments that does not have a completed registration card, i.e. three measurements that place the dog in a specific jump height, must be measured prior to competing at a Regional Championship event or Cynosport® World Games in order to confirm that the dog is eligible for the height entered.

If the dog measures up, the competitor must jump the dog at the higher jump height in all classes regardless of the jump height in which the dog earned its qualifications. If the competitor had a bye at the lower height, the bye is forfeited, and the competitor must compete in all rounds that may have been bypassed as a result of the bye.

Dog Agility Masters® Height Changes Due to Measurement at Check-In

The handler of a dog entered in a Dog Agility Masters® Team tournament must notify the secretary immediately should their dog be required to jump a higher height than entered by virtue of the judge's measurement. The dog must jump a legal height based upon the judge's measurement in order for all team members to be eligible to earn a qualifying score in the tournament. If entered in a 3-dog team and the dog no longer meets the two-height per team limitation, one or more dogs on the team may be moved to participate as part of a 2-dog or other 3-dog team when both are offered. In any case, the secretary should make every effort to form complete teams from dogs available. Should a member of the team not be able to be reassigned due to this limitation, the competitor(s) may run for in the individual classes for individual awards, if any are offered, and for individual class qualifications towards Lifetime Achievement Award. There shall be no refund of fees paid for entering an improper height as required by tournament rules. In the case of a 2-dog team, a height change for one dog does not affect their team composition but may result in a change in their position in the running order because of the height composition of the team.

Dog Measurements & Certification

All dogs measuring 22" or less must be measured to validate their entry in an event and class in accordance with Official USDAA Rules & Regulations, unless:

  • they have had their height permanently certified pursuant to USDAA rules and regulations (Appendix D) measurement rules
  • they meet exceptions set forth in USDAA Tournament Rules for advanced rounds.
  • hold a dog's temporary card or record with 3 judges' signatures as set forth in the regulations for dogs prior to 3 years of age
Notwithstanding The Foregoing, A Dog'S Height Of Entry May Be Challenged At Any Time For The Event. Please note that only dogs 15 months of age may be officially measured and recorded on temporary registration cards/forms. Dogs competing in Intro classes less than 15 months of age should be measured for the event, but the measurement shall not be officially recorded.

If you want to enter your Veteran dog (any dog age 8 or older) and receive awesome gifts just for our young-at-heart companions, see the entry form.

The prizes are amazing, just ask anyone who has participated in past Wild West Regionals! :)

USDAA 40th Anniversary Events!!

Help us celebrate USDAA turning 40 at the 2026 Wild West Regional!

We are the first Regional of 2026, and we are going to kick off a year of celebrating 40 years of United States Dog Agility Association Agility with two PRE-REGIONAL events! While these are not mandatory…they are definitely more fun when everyone joins in! The THEME of the Regional is UNITY…and we hope you enjoy these PRE-EVENT activities that help us celebrate while not interfering with awesome competitions!!

Wild West Regional Gift Toss Video!

Remember COVID and all the TP toss videos that seemed to circulate on social media? Here we are…6+ years later and we are doing a pivot on the TP toss with a “gift box” toss…to help say HAPPY 40th ANNIVERSARY USDAA. The process is simple. First…if you are unfamiliar with the TP toss…here is a link to the AZ TP Toss from 2020 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8650ekdJwQw&t=88s

For this video…we would like you to take ANY box….wrap it if you want (bonus OOOHHH and AAAAHHHs!).  You are going to appear as if you are CATCHING from the right…then do a QUICK trick/agility move with your dog…then toss to the left. This works well if someone is filming you and can toss the box to you to catch…OR…You toss it up in the air to yourself and catch it before doing your trick.  Videos need to be UNDER 12 seconds PLEASE!  So, a QUICK maneuver! We will splice them if they are too long. You can do one for each dog that is competing at the Regionals. When you have your .mov file, please email it to Beth Skoff at skoffagility@gmail.com  All videos need to be received by January 10, 2026. Then…before we begin the nighttime Relay on Saturday evening we will make it live on the Wild West Regional FB page for us all to watch together!

Wild West Regional 40th Anniversary Photo Mosaic!

Who doesn’t love a photo op????  On Friday at the Regionals there is going to be a Big 40 sign that has 4” x 4” squares marked off inside each number. We would like each of you to bring a picture (just print it off from your computer…no need for the glossy stuff!) and cut it to 4” x 4”. We will supply the tape for you to choose a spot within the “40” for your pup’s picture. It will be the Anniversary CARD…so to speak…to go with the Anniversary Video…to USDAA!  PLUS….it will remain up for the rest of the regional as a cool photo op!!! Again…the more people that participate…the better!
