Remembering Bud Houston

(July 11, 1953 to December 20, 2024)

The agility world is mourning the loss of its own, Bud Houston, who was a pioneer and leader in the sport.  Bud Houston was named a USDAA Hall of Fame Pioneer of Dog Agility in 1997, as founding editor and publisher of Clean Run Magazine and his writings on training classes for dog agility and published works on “games”.  

One of America’s most popular agility teachers, Bud stressed solid handling fundamentals and positive training techniques through training classes and numerous seminars in the U.S. and abroad.  He led training programs early in his career in Arizona and later in Ohio.

USDAA President Kenneth Tatsch said upon learning of Bud’s passing, “Bud always brought fun to an event, whether he was competing or judging. He was not short on ideas, which is clearly evident in reviewing his career. His successes speak well for a life well-lived.”
