Stuart Mah - 2005 - Pioneer of Dog Agility
Stuart Mah of Jacksonville, Florida, a leading innovator of canine agility in the U.S. since 1989, has excelled as a competitor and instructor. He has competed at the highest levels of agility to include 17 USDAA Grand Prix® finals and five AKC finals. His dogs were continually ranked in USDAA Top Ten, with his last dog Ares leading the all-time list in Lifetime Achievement with more than 2,000 qualifying scores in competition. He has represented the U.S. nine times in international competition and training coach for the 2018. His accomplishments led him to the USDAA Hall of Fame as a Pioneer of Dog Agility.
Stuart has published numerous articles and three books on dog agility. He has also been a broadcast consultant on agility to Animal Planet, Disney Channel, National Geographic and PBS.
Before agility, Stuart was an oral and maxillofacial surgeon; when he retired from that, he started teaching agility classes, seminars and private lessons. He also served on advisory boards for both USDAA and AKC and was on the initial board of directors for USDAA, helping to define USDAA’s competitive programs. Stuart also served as a certified measuring judge and one of two principal instructor of judges for more than 10 years. He was a USDAA course reviewer from 1994 until 2018. He taught many of the USDAA and AKC judges either in seminars or in online courses.
