Lynn von Trapp - 2014 - Meritorious Service
Lynne von Trapp of Stowe, Vermont, first saw agility in 1982 while in England watching the equestrian show jumping World Cup. During the intermission, the jumps were lowered, and the riders and grooms ran their dogs over the course. Though she became instantly hooked on the sport, she didn’t start training and competing until 2000.
Lynne was in her 50s when she joined agility club NOMAD (Northern Magic Agility Dogs) in Vermont. She served on a variety of committees and later, even served as president.
Since 2004, Lynne and several other members of NOMAD have traveled to the Cynosport® World Games to volunteer. There have only been a few times that any of them actually ran a dog at the event; instead, they come and volunteer for the sheer love of agility.
Lynne is always smiling, accommodating and pleasant to work with. Lynne’s passion and dedication are contagious and have inspired other members of NOMAD to make the trip to Cynosport to volunteer as well. Lynne has received a Meritorious Service Award for demonstrating to others the love of agility and the true meaning of sportsmanship, as well as giving back to the agility community.
When not involved in agility, she is likely involved with family who all live within a mile. They work together in the family businesses, the Trapp Family Lodge and von Trapp Brewing.
