Bulldog Ella Inspires Nontraditional Rally Dogs

5th Bulldog ever to earn ARCH

Congratulations to Danielle Angel and her 2-year-old Bulldog, Ella, on becoming the fifth Bulldog ever to earn their ARCH!  

Danielle, of Powhatan, Va., was never involved in dog sports before she got Ella. When Ella’s intelligence and energy needed an outlet, Danielle decided to try rally. Their first time in the competition ring was in May 2022, and exactly one year later, they brought home the first ARCH for the breed in over 14 years.

“WCRL has been an amazing venue to compete in,” Danielle said. “At one point, I thought about quitting, but I am beyond thankful to the friends who stuck by my side and encouraged me. Our fellow competitors have been incredibly supportive of our journey, we’ve made some amazing new friends, and I can’t imagine any place I’d rather be than having fun in the ring with my girl!” 

Danielle has her sights on earning Ella’s ARCHX in September, which would make Ella the third Bulldog with the title. She also looks forward to continuing their rally journey and hopes Ella becomes the first of her breed to earn an ARCHEX and ARCHMX.

“Watching Ella’s happy face and seeing her prance through the ring is everything to me,” Danielle said. “I’m so grateful to everyone who supported our journey and celebrated this milestone with us. Thank you to WCRL for creating a space where everyone is welcome and can succeed, even a Bulldog!”
