Without the amazing work of their volunteers, many USDAA events would not be able to provide the same friendly, top-notch experience for their competitors. This is especially true of the Cynosport® Dog Agility World Games presented by Purina® Pro Plan®, a world-class event that brings together elite athletes and the animal lovers who make it all possible.Beesley Animal Foundation logo

Since Cynosport was first held at the Tennessee Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro in 2013, USDAA has coordinated with many local volunteers, including supporters from the Beesley Animal Foundation.

“It really is neat to have an event like this in our town every other October,” said Katie Peachey, Beesley’s grants and marketing administrator. “Volunteers consistently tell us how much they enjoy being part of something so different and fast-paced. One person couldn’t believe how impressive the canine athletes were. Another noted how friendly and appreciative the USDAA staff is; they were offered lunch when they volunteered. The event is fun, high-energy and unlike anything else happening in our area — it’s always a hit!”

Close Up on Beesley Animal Foundation

Beesley was established in 1980 to provide affordable veterinary care and promote responsible pet ownership in Murfreesboro. For over 45 years, Beesley has been a trusted, compassionate local resource that works to ensure every pet is a wanted and cared-for family member. Its programs include:

  • Lauren Rexing DVM and Deb Hatch-Office Manager 500Affordable spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and wellness services through the Beesley Animal Clinic;
  • Financial assistance for those who need extra support;
  • Educational programs for kids and adults that promote the values of kindness, respect and responsibility in pet ownership;
  • Outreach programs providing pet food and vaccinations to the community’s underserved (with over 45,000 pounds of pet food distributed since 2016!);
  • And urgent, non-emergent veterinary care through partnerships with local full-service veterinarians.

“As a nonprofit organization that thrives on community support, the Beesley Animal Foundation is always seeking meaningful and fun opportunities for our volunteers, and Cynosport has always been a perfect fit!” Katie said. “We LOVE our volunteers! They are vital to everything we do, from assisting at our low-cost clinic to helping with community events. Many of our supporters are eager to volunteer with animals directly or indirectly, and Cynosport gives them a unique and exciting way to get involved.”

While Cynosport can host hundreds of people from around the world thanks to the support of the local community, the event also gives back by providing these outreach opportunities for local organizations and supporting them in turn.

“After each event, USDAA has generously made a monetary donation to the Beesley Animal Foundation,” Katie said. “Those contributions help us continue our work and expand access to affordable pet care throughout Middle Tennessee. Last year, their donation helped pay for several cat and dog spay/neuter surgeries, reducing pet overpopulation and preventing unnecessary suffering in these animals. It’s a great example of how a national event can leave a meaningful local impact!”
