Rally judge Jane ClarkWorld Cynosport® Rally Limited (WCRL) judge Jane Clark has been one of the leaders behind the new Flash program, and we asked her to share an overview of how it’s going.

The WCRL Flash class is a concept that was proposed by a Facebook post from a competitor: "How about some new exercises? In a course that includes only moving exercises?"

Several judges started a virtual discussion about how that new class might work, which current exercises might be included, and what new exercises might be developed. After give and take, we developed an outline for a new course that we named Flash. With support from WCRL (thanks, Andy and Ken), the proposed regulations were written, and new exercises started to be developed with a ton of ideas from Leigh Sylvester.

The new Flash class was launched on the USDAA@Home!SM rally platform on January 25, with a good number of entries. Participants are providing feedback and using the Facebook page to test out the new exercises for feedback. We are at the stage where we are finalizing the first set of exercises for Level 1 and Level 2 before adding Level 3.

In the video below, WCRL judge Gail Vendetti of Sussex County, N.J., and her dog Shilo demonstrate a Level 2 Flash class. “We are very passionate about this new Flash class. The freedom of flowing movement is like a dance to us,” said Gail.
