Plano, Texas — February 8, 2023 — The newest USDAA regional championship will be held September 8-10 at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Mo., and is being organized by the long-running Greater St. Louis Agility Club. The regional will be the final opportunity for competitors to qualify for entry and earn byes for the 2023 Cynosport® World Games being held October 18 to 22, in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
“We are so pleased to host the new USDAA Central Regional competition at Purina Farms. Our team attended the Cynosport World Dog Agility Games in Scottsdale and we were impressed with the operations and competitors. We want to be a part of the agility action again in 2023 and support the sport.” said Scott Smith, Director, Breeder/Enthusiast Group at Purina Pro Plan.
The Central Regional competition will take place indoors at the Purina Event Center which hosts a wide range of canine events year-round. To see the venue visit here.
According to Trial Chair and Club Treasurer Peter Cinotto: "I attended my first Central Regional in 2019 in Kansas City KS, then heard that the hosting club would not be hosting the event the following year. I started to collect information to host the event in St. Louis. I requested the option for GSLAC to host the event and was given approval to host the Central Regional in 2020. However, the event unfortunately was canceled due to the COVID pandemic." We were excited to be asked to host the event in 2023 and to have the support of Purina Pro Plan.”
Greater St. Louis Agility Club has been hosting USDAA trials since June 2006. “Many early agility trials were held outdoors at Purina Farms and the agility community was excited when Purina announced it was building the Event Center. It is a wonderful facility, and we are very lucky to have the Purina Farms Event Center in the St. Louis area. Our club has hosted USDAA trials at the Event Center in previous years”, said Club representative Laura Harper. “The Central Regional will be a last chance for teams to earn a bye to the USDAA Cynosport World Games held later this year in Tennessee. This event has potential to bring in competitors from all across the central region and beyond.”
